History

In 2000, Steve Chand, Skaffworks founder and Managing Director, having spent over 18 years in the Occupational Health Safety & Environmental Industry started working on diversifying the company’s services. Little did he know at the time that this would eventually become his calling. Meticulous and obsessive, Steve embraced the trade and began providing the Fiji market with beautifully functional and durable construction and architectural systems. He believed in a simple principle, if we had to do it then it had to be done right. There were no short-cuts to this end and no budget retrains in acquiring the best people and best tools for the job. As such, his vision was to own all machinery required of the trade, even if it came at a cost and to provide the best for his customers.

 

A testimony to this effect is the investment of almost a million dollars on scaffolding materials alone. Steve did not leave any stones unturned. He believed that to value people meant valuing their time. Skaffworks today has a qualified Architect, Structural Engineer, Project Consultant, Services Engineers and IT Personnel contracted to the company. Fiji was a perfect fit for this tradesman in the making. The demand for quality services was a common cry attention to detail was a necessity, and meticulous craftsmanship a must. The company has thrived over the years and is currently considered one of the most dependable and talented in the industry.

Steve Chand adopted the development of the design / build process to help save our customers valuable time and resources. We chose that method because it is the best way for us to deliver value to you.  It costs more to provide design, but good design can save costly mistakes. 

Obtaining design services independently of the contractor generally costs you more and sets up a potentially adversarial relationship.  If a problem arises, we take care of it. As a design / build contractor, we have an extensive knowledge of real costs and can design a project that fits your budget parameters.
